Self Portrait and Portraits Part 2

"A mirror or some other reflective surface offers an even easier way to take a self-portrait."

"Have fun with it. Be sexy. Be yourself. Be awesome. Be different. Be creative. Whatever you do, have fun with it. That’s part of the point, after all."

"Use a tripod. Seriously. While it’s possible to get good photos while you’re hanging on to your camera at arms-length, it’s a lot easier if you’ve got the freedom to move around a bit."

Environmental Portrait:

I picked this photo because it has a lot of color and design. I like it because of the flowers everywhere and the red lighting in the background.

I picked this photo because it has some color but the main reason i picked it was because of the background. I like it because the bricks make a cool diagonal shape that kind of distracts from the man.

Photography Self Portrait:

I picked this photo because of the bright uplifting colors. I like the color of the umbrella and the country side.

I picked this photo because of the lighting and the color of the shoes. I like the way it sparkles/shines on the tip of the shoe. It looks really cool. 

Casual Portrait:

I picked this photo because of the way its black and white. I like the way it doesn't have color and it shows detail and shadow.

I picked this photo because i of how you can see the baby in the mirror. It shows a different angle of the baby.  I like the way the background is blurred to show emphasis on the baby.

I will shoot a picture of myself obviously, since this is will be a self portrait assignment. I will shoot somewhere where there aren't many people, and they're isn't a lot of things on the wall to distract from the photo. To make the shot successful i will make sure there aren't a lot of distractions, i will make sure to take more than one photo. I will make sure to keep the camera still and in focus. I will try  to use more than one rule of photography.

A.) I think that all of the photos in the slideshow, this is the most powerful one. It shows, to me, that he has worked extremely hard. It shows that he was determined to get to where he wanted to go, and it shows that all of his hard work has finally paid off. Thats why i think this is the most powerful picture.

B.) [At home in denver, 1-9]  [At basic training, 10-50]  [In Iraq, 51-71]  [Back in Denver, 72-83]
The most powerful set of images are the last ones, Back in Denver, because they show a lot of emotion, hard work that is finally complete, and a relief to be back home and happy.

C.) The images show his journey through, and steps, he takes to make it as a soldier. It shows almost everything that happened, and captured a lot of the experiences.

A.) All of the captions of the photos are told in Present tense.

B.) They make it feel like your right there, and helps you understand what its like to be there with him.

A.)[Image #1] John sits down quietly with his dad in his New York house, nervously waiting for a call from his instructor to let him know if he made it in as an army recruit.

[Image #3] John gets out of his car alone in New York at an Armed Forces Career Center, because he had just gotten a call approving of him as an army recruit.

[Image #4] John and his girlfriend Katy kiss on the ferris wheel at a carnival in New York, celebrating his recent admission as an army recruit.

A.) It can tell more of a story, make more of an impact, use music to change your emotions or opinions on things, allow you to get a better understanding on the pictures.

1.) You can take the picture really fast, and it helps you take better photos in low light.
2.) Every camera has a base ISO, the lowest ISO the camera will go to.
3.) High ISO's take pictures faster, but make them more grainier.

Auto, AP mode, and Manual. Auto automatically sets the aperture and the shutter speed. AP mode sets the shutter speed, but lets you set the aperture. Manual mode lets you set everything for yourself.

1.) Pupil
2.) The smaller the aperture the larger the f-stop, the higher the aperture the smaller the f-stops.
3.) Reducing the aperture increases the depth of field.
