First:
The main publication class that i would most likely be interested in taking next year is Commercial Photography. I think the reason why i chose this over all the other choices is because i really want to learn more about cameras and photography. I also chose Commercial Photography because i am really interested photography and pictures.

Captions

Caption #1

Who- President Barack Obama and his wife Michelle Obama.

What- They are embracing each other.

Where- Airport, Washington D.C, Kennedy International Airport on the tarmac.

When- Monday, Nov. 17th at 11 a.m. 

Why- They haven't seen each other in 3 weeks, because President Obama was on the campaign trail trying to get re-elected as President. 

How- Passionately, with emotion.

Background- President obama tripped and fell on his way into the airport/terminal hard enough that the medical team nearby had to come out and help him.

Sentence 1- President Barack Obama embraces his wife Michelle at the Washington Dulles International Airport after returning home from his trip to Ohio where he was campaigning to become the 45th president of the United states. 

Sentence 2- The President, while on his way to the terminal, tripped and fell requiring medical attention for a cut on his left cheek.

Caption Head- Stumbling his way to the Presidency

Who- South Korean singer Psy and his audience.
What- He is singing gleefully to everyone in his concert.
Where- He is an auditorium in Asia performing.
When- At 9:00 at night, on January 8th 2013.
Why- Because he needs money for another music video.
How- He asked to go to the auditorium and he asked to be on TV, and they said yes.
Background- Psy got anxious after his old song "Gangnam Style" got over 900 million views on Youtube, so he decided to have a concert to raise money for a new song and music video.

Sentence 1- Psy hosts an outstanding concert to make money for a new song and music video, after his old music video got over 900 million views on the popular video sharing site Youtube.

Sentence 2- Psy, happened to forget later that day that he was going to use the money for a music video, and ended up accidentally wasting it all.

Caption Head- Psy entertains fans and breaks music barriers

Caption #3

Who- Hurricane Sandy, and Ground Zero.

What- Hurricane Sandy causes a flood that destroys precious hard work at Ground Zero.

Where- New York. 

When- November 1st, 2012. 

Why- Because Hurricane Sandy blew in a lot of water. 

How-A hurricane forms when hot tropical waters react with low atmospheric pressure.

Background- Ground Zero was almost done with the full reconstruction of the base, but workers had left early after hearing of an unbelievable Hurricane Sandy rumor. 

Sentence 1- Hurricane Sandy causes a major and drastic flash flood that annihilated all of the hard work built by early leaving workers at Ground Zero. 

Sentence 2- Workers later came back and fixed not only the base but whole building, getting over there hurdle of Hurricane Sandy.

Notes:

Types of lenses - Telephoto (Allows you to zoom in closer to your subject). Prime (Does not zoom at all, it is fixed to a certain). Wide angle (Wide viewing angle).

Depth of Field (shallow and wide) - Whats in focus. 

Light (angle and intensity) - Where is the light coming from, and the angle it comes in at plays a huge role in photography. The intensity of the light also plays a role. (How bright the light is.)

Shadows - (More light, more shadows.) Shadows are the absence of light. They also play a role in photography. 

Diffusion - Changing/reducing the intensity of light. 

Exposure - How the picture looks to our eyes. (Is it light? Dark? Somewhere in between?)

Aperture (f-stop) - Inside the lens, and its how big or small the opening is. (Controlled)

Shutter Speed - Inside the camera, how fast the mirror opens and closes. (Controlled)

ISO - The sensor inside the camera, how sensitive it is to light. (Controlled)

New Value of the photo is also important - news value terms include:
Timeliness - How many days away.
Proximity - How close it is to your location.
Conflict - Fighting/Arguing etc.
Human Intrest - How interesting it is to us.
Prominence - How important it is to us.
Impact - A big moment.
Novelty - Something unique/different.

The smaller the f-stop number, the bigger the aperture.

This photo was my first favorite photo of 2012 because i really like the look of it, and i like how the rocks make a little pathway, i also like how the snow is orange because of the light too.

This was my second favorite photo of 2012 because because i really like the way the sky looks, and i also like the color of everything in the photo.

This was my third favorite photo of 2012 because of the stitches in her eye, i think it makes it more interesting to look at and it also makes it a very unique photo.

My Holiday: 

Extra Credit For Final Exam

1.) The man was pushed onto the tracks by someone unknown, and the photographer used his camera flash while taking pictures to get the drivers attention, but the train couldn't slow down in time.

2.) He said he took the photo to use his flash to get the train drivers attention.

3.) I think that he has his own right to take whatever photos he wants to take.

4.) No, i don't think he should have just used his flash. I think he could have taken some pictures and then helped the man by waving his arms or by screaming something.

5.) I disagree about the people running the photo on the front cover. I think that since he is dead they don't have permission to use the photo like that, and it also might worry people and get people sad.

6.) I think that to a photojournalist it is more important to get a good photo, and then help someone else out if they need help.

7.) I think it is right to involve yourself, because you can help with the pictures you take and because if you don't get involved, you might have evidence that your not using that could help.

8.) I think that photojournalist should try not to influence and just take photos and let things happen like they're supposed to happen. I think it makes the photos even better if they're not influenced. 

9.) Fashion

1.) Her neck was raised, eyes were pushed down, eyes were enlarged, skin tone was changed, and hair was changed.

2.) No, because it creates an illusion of beauty and photoshop is not true beauty.

3.) Yes, it would be wronger to do if you were in a beauty contest and someone chose a photoshopped picture of a girl, and not a real picture of her.

4.) I think none of the changes made in that video are okay.

5.) Fashion photography i think is more personality and beauty, while photojournalism is more environmental and sports and stuff.

6.) The difference is that Fashion Photographers only have to make sure lighting and other little things are good, because they can just photoshop everything else in, while Photojournalism Photographers have to make sure lighting, blurriness, rules of photography, focus, and a lot of other things must be right before taking the picture. They try to get the best photo first.

Lyrtro Warm-Up

1.) I noticed it let me change where the photo was focused, and i noticed that it let me move around slightly.

2.) At the highest level, light entering the Lytro camera goes through the main lens and then hits our proprietary Lytro Light Field Sensor. The Lytro Field Sensor incorporates a special compound lens known as a micro-lens array (MLA), which is comprised of thousands of tiny lenses. This special sensor is what allows the Lytro camera to take in all of the light in the scene, capturing information on the direction, color, and luminosity of millions of individual rays of light.

3.) Other people have said that it was a "low resolution grainy camera that's super fragile and is awkward to grip" And someone else said that "the lens cap falls off easily."

4.) I personally think that for 399.99, about 400 dollars, is quite a lot for such a little thing. I think that it is too much money, and then 299.99 would be a reasonable price.
